The Effect of Observing Mawlid on disbelievers

Expressing happiness and celebrating the beloved Prophet śall Allāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam his birthday causes even unbelievers, by Allah’s favour and mercy, to gain some benefit. This is mentioned in Sahīh Bukhârī. Bukhārī said in his Hadīth that every Monday, Abū Lahab in his grave is released from punishment because he freed his handmaid Thuwayba when she brought him the news of the Prophet’s śall Allāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam birth.

This Hadīth is mentioned in Bukhārī in the book of Nikah, and Ibn Kathīr mentions it in his books Sirāt al-Nabī (1:124), Mawlid al-Nabī (pp. 21), and al-Bidāya (pp. 272-273). The Hāfidh Shams ud-Dīn Muhammad ibn Nasir ud-Dīn ad-Dimashqī wrote on this the following verses in his book Mawrid as-Sadi fi Mawlid al-Hadi:

If this, a disbeliever who was condemned to hell eternally with ‘Perish his hands’ [Sūrah 111], is said to enjoy a respite every Monday because he rejoiced in Ahmad śall Allāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam: what then do you think of the servant who, all his life, was happy with Ahmad, and died saying, ‘One’?

In the year 1258 (675 A.H.), there lived a tyrant Mongolian leader by the name of Haloko, who invaded Baghdad and killed thousands of Ulama. This paved the way for Christian missionaries to preach Christianity and convert Muslims openly. Haloko himself was married to a Christian woman. One day, a delegation of the most notable Christians headed for Baghdad to attend a grand party to celebrate the conversion of a key Mongolian leader to Christianity. The Mongolian leader had his favourite hunting dog on a leash nearby.

One of the Christians then began congratulating the Mongolian leader on his wise decision and then proceeded to revile the blessed character of our Beloved Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). The dog started acting violently and jumped on the Christian, scratching him badly. It took several men to make the dog let go of the Christian. One of the attendees turned to the Christian and said, “The dog did this because of what you said about Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).” The Christian brushed aside the man’s comment and arrogantly said, “No, that was not the reason for the dog’s reaction. When I was speaking, I pointed with my hand and the dog thought that I was going to hit him.” The Christian appeared unmoved by the incident and continued to insult the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). At that time the dog, in such a rage, cut itself loose, jumped on the Christian and sank its molars in the man’s neck. It snatched his throat out and the man died immediately. This incident caused 40 000 Mongolians to embrace Islam. [Ad-Durar al-Kaaminah, Vol. 3]

From the above incident it can be seen that even a dog has so much love for Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) that it cannot bear to hear any insult on the Beloved Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Hazrat Allama Qaazi Ayaaz (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) states that the Ulama of this Ummah have agreed upon that, “An Islamic king should order the killing of the person that swears Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), finds fault in him, his family, his religion or any of his blessed habits, compares him to something unworthy, as well as that person that curses him or says something terrible to afflict him. In all of these cases the individual will become a murtad (apostate) and shall be killed. Muhammad bin Sahnoon has stated that the person who insults Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is a kaafir, and anyone who has a doubt regarding him being a kaafir and his punishment, is also a kaafir. The punishment of the individual that disrespects Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is death.” [Shifa Sharif, Vol. 2] Just as Hazrat Allama Qaazi Ayaaz (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) has stated, similarly, even the dog knows that the punishment for disrespecting Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is death.

A’la Hazrat Imam Ahle Sunnat Ash Shah Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) has stated in his Al-Malfooz Shareef that if a person was in a jungle with one glass of water and he comes across a kaafir and a dog who are both dying of thirst, he must give the glass of water to the dog because the dog believes in Allah and his Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) while the kaafir is a disbeliever. Some people might argue that the kaafir is still a human being and has a right over the dog for the water. If a person has true Imaan and true love for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) he should consider the following: Imagine you are in that jungle with a glass of water, and you come across the hunting dog of the Mongolian leader on one side, who cannot bear even a single word of insult on the Beloved Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and on the other side you have the vile Christian man whose mouth is only filled with blasphemy and insults on Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Now ask yourself, who would you give the water to?

We must learn from this that there is no compromise when it comes to the love of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and that whoever it may be, family, friend or relative, if they insult the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) they should no longer be dear to us and we must hate them for the sake of Allah. He who is the enemy of Almighty Allah and his Beloved Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) can NEVER be dear to us. As was said by Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ibrahim Khushtar Siddiqui Qadri Razvi (Rahmatullah Alaih), “Let us not live with them; let us consider them as our enemies. Neither must we listen to them nor sit in their company.”

Another lesson to be learnt from the above incident is that love for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) can only result in success. If a dog attending a Christian ceremony displays its love for Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and converts 40 000 Mongolians to Muslims, what cannot we achieve by displaying to the world our love for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and by acting on the Shariah and Sunnah that he has given us?

We should always remember that true love for Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is success and salvation in this world and in the hereafter Insha Allah. May Allah Ta’ala grant us all the Taufeeq to have true love for Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and to practice upon the Shariah and the Sunnah, Ameen

Superiority of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Rad...

It is the Ijma (consensus) of the Ahl-e-Sunnat wa Jama'at that after the Mursaleen-Malaaika, Rasools and Ambiya of mankind the Khulafaa-e-Arba'a (The four Right Guided Khalifas i.e. Hadrat Abu Bakr, Hadrat Umar, Hadrat Uthmaan and Hadrat Ali) are the most excellent of Allah's creation. No one from all nations of creation with the former and latter, can reach their greatness, acceptance, proximity and Wilayat.

The progression of excellence amongst them is as follows that Hadrat Abu Bakr is the most excellent, then Hadrat Umar, Hadrat Uthmaan and Hadrat Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhum Ajma'een. Here I present few proclamations of the Classical Scholars and Jurists in this regard.

Proclamations of the Classical Scholars and Jurists

1. Imam al-Aazam Abu Hanifa gave one of the pithiest definitions of Sunnism in Islam:

"The doctrine of Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jama'a consists in preferring the Two Shaykhs (tafdil al-shaykhayn) [i.e. Abu Bakr and 'Umar over the rest], loving the Two Sons-in-law (hubb al-khatanayn) [i.e. 'Ali and 'Uthman], and [deeming lawful the] wiping on leather socks [in ablution] (al-mas-h 'alal-khuffayn) [i.e. all three contrary to Shi'is]." [Khulasat al-Fatawa, Vol. 2, Page 381]

Narrated by Ibn 'Abd al-Barr in al-Intiqa' bi-Manaqib al-A'immat al-Thalathati al-Fuqaha' through several different chains. The same is also related from Sufyan al-Thawri by al-La'laka'i in his I'tiqad Ahl al-Sunna, Vol. 1, Page 152.

2. Imam al-Aazam Abu Hanifah in Fiqh Al-Akbar:

The most superior and the best of all men after prophets – blessings and peace upon them – is Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. And then, Umar ibn al-Khattab al-Faruq. And then Uthman ibn Affan Dhu'n Nurayn. And then ali ibn Abu talib al-Murtada. May Allah be well pleased with them all; they were worshippers and steadfast on Truth and sided with Truth. We love all of them. [Fiqh Al-Akbar]

3. Imam al-Nawawi said in his Fatawa:

"Know that each of Abu Bakr and 'Umar is better than 'Ali according to the Consensus (ijma') of Ahl al-Sunna. The proofs for this in well-known sound hadiths are too famous and countless to be listed." [Fatawa Imam Nawawi, Page 264]

4. Imam al-Haytami said in his Fatawa Hadithiyya:

"The preferability of Abu Bakr over the other three [of the first four Caliphs] and that of 'Umar over the ther two is agreed upon by Consensus (mujma' 'alayh) of Ahl al-Sunna and there is no disagreement among them concerning this." [Fatawa Hadithiyya, Page 155]

5. Ali al-Qari in MinaH ar-Rawd al-Az'har, SharH Fiqh al-Akbar:

The best of humans after prophets [peace and blessings upon them] is Abu Bakr Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu... The superiority of Abu Bakr and Umar is an unanimous agreement in the Ahl as-Sunnah. [Sharh Fiqh al-Akbar]

6. Mulla 'Ali al-Qari said in Sharh al-Fiqh al-Akbar:

"It is patent that to prefer 'Ali to the Two Shaykhs contravenes the doctrine of Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jama'a according to what the totality of the Salaf follow." [Sharh al-Fiqh al-Akbar, Page 140]

7. Imam al-Daraqutni was once asked to arbitrate between two groups in Baghdad who differed whether 'Uthman was preferable to 'Ali or vice-versa. He relates:

"At first I withheld from taking any position and considered reserve best. But then I reached the conclusion that Religion dictated other than silence. So I said: 'Uthman is better than 'Ali with the agreement of the assembly of the Companions. This is the position of Ahl al-Sunnah, and it is the first knot of the Rafida one cuts loose."

8. Al-Dhahabi quotes the above in his chapter on al-Daraqutni in Siyar A'lam al-Nubala' then comments:

"Both 'Uthman and 'Ali possess great merits and precedence and are among the foremost shuhada'. However, the vast majority of the Community agree to give precedence to 'Uthman, and this is our position also; and better than both of them without doubt are Abu Bakr and 'Umar. Whoever differs with this is a hardened Shi'i." [Siyar A'lam al-Nubala', Dar al-Fikr Edition. Vol. 12, Page 483-492, Hadith 3530]

9. Imam Abu Jaafar Al-taHawi in Al-aqidah at-taHawiyyah:

"We affirm the succession [khilafah] after RasulAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam first for Abu Bakr Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu – on account of his superiority upon the entire ummah and being paramount among them. Then, Umar ibn al-Khattab Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Then, Uthman ibn affan Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Then, ali ibn Abu talib Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. For they are the Rightly Guided Successors [khulafa ar-rashidun] and The Guiding Leaders [ayimmah al-muhtadun - in another version ayimmah al-mahdiyyun]."

10. Saad ad-Din Taftazani in his SharH al-Maqasid, In the Fifth Discussion:

"The Imam (leader of Muslims) after RasulAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam is Abu Bakr Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. The Shiah say: ali. And we say: There is a unanimous agreement (ijmaa) of every person of importance (the ahl al-Hill wa'l aqd – from the council, prominent ones, nobles etc.) on this matter." [SharH al-Maqasid]

11. In the Sixth Discussion, Saad ad-Din Taftazani says:

"Superiority, according to us [ahl as-sunnah] is according to the order of succession (of Khalifahs)." [SharH al-Maqasid]

12. Ali al-ushi in Bad-yi'l Amali and ali al-Qari in its commentary: daw al-Maali

وللصديق رجحان جلي ... على الصحاب من غير احتمال

And [Abu Bakr] Siddiq has a prominence and superiority

Upon all companions without any doubt

وللفاروق رجحان وفضل ... على عثمان ذي النورين عالي

And [Umar] Faruq has prominence and superiority

Upon Uthman – he of the two lights, the lofty

وذو النورين حقا كان خيرا .... من الكرار في صف القتال

And Dhu'n Nurayn [Uthman] has the right, that he is superior to

[ali] al-Karrar, the brave and unflinching in the face of battle

وللكرار فضل بعد هذا .... على الأغيار طرا لا تبال

And superiority is due to ali the brave, after this

Upon everybody else without any hesitation

13. Jawharah at-TawHid, Ibrahim al-Laqqani and its commentary TuHfatu'l Murid, Ibrahim al-Bajuri.

وخيرهم من ولي الخلافة .... وأمرهم في الفضلك الخلافة

And the best of them [companions] are the successors to khilafah

And the order of their superiority is like [the order of] the khilafah.

14. Ibn al-Jawzi in Manaqib Ahmad relatedly said:

"Whoever prefers 'Ali to Abu Bakr maligns the Prophet; whoever gives 'Ali preference over 'Umar maligns the Prophet and Abu Bakr; and whoever gives 'Ali preference over 'Uthman maligns the Prophet, Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and the Emigrants. Nor do I believe that the deeds of such a person are accepted." [Manaqib Ahmad, Page. 162]

15. In the very beginning of his Kashf Mushkil Hadith al-Sahihayn in four volumes, in print, Ibn al-Jawzi mentions the anecdote of a Rafidi asking a Sunni:

"Who is nobler than five under a cloak, the sixth of whom is Gibril?" (in reference to the established hadith wherein the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, gathered Sayyida Fatima, her two sons and her husband under his cloak) whereupon the Sunni replied: "Two in the cave, the third of whom is Allah" (in reference to the verse of Qur'an and hadith of the Prophet and Abu Bakr in the cave on the way to Madina).

16. In Nazm al-Mutanathir min al-Hadith al-Mutawatir, al-Alim al-Rabbani, al-Sayyid Muhammad Jafar al-Idrisi al-Kattani (d. 1927) mentioned:

"The Ahadith on the afdhaliyya of Abu Bakr over the Sahaba are mutawatir by meaning." [Nazm al-Mutanathir min al-Hadith al-Mutawatir Page 202]

He quotes Qastallani's Irshad al-Saari Baab Tafadhul Ahl al-Iman fi al-A'man from the Book of Imaan who quotes Ijma' of Ahl al-Sunnah on this. He also quotes Ibn Hajar from al-Sawa'i al-Muhriqa and Ibn Taymiyya from al-Wassiyyat al-Kubra who mention that it the reports are mutawatir.

17. al-Sayyid Yusuf al-Nabhani quotes Fatawa Ibn Hajar, in his al-Sharaf al-Mu'abbad, who says in its khatima:

"It has been soundly narrated from Ali himself: the best of people after the Prophet is Abu Bakr then Umar and then someone else... it is from this that the Ahl al-Sunnah from the Sahabah and Tabiun and those after them agree (ijma) that Abu Bakr is absolutely excellent among all Sahabah and then Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)." [al-Sharaf al-Mu'abbad, Page 207]

18. Imam Yusuf bin Ismail an-Nabhani mentions that Ibn Hajar was questioned on another occasion whether the excellence of one over the other among the four was qat'iyya or Ijtihadiyya to which he replied that

"The excellence of Abu Bakr over all is Mujma' alayh among Ahl al-Sunnah and there is no dispute in this, and consensus implies qata'." [al-Sharaf al-Mu'abbad, Page 208]

19. Imam Sha'rani quotes Abu Bakr al-Ayyash in his Minan who said:

"If Abu Bakr, Umar and Ali ever came to me for something, I would attend Ali first for his close relation with the Messenger of Allah, and I would prefer falling from the sky to the earth over giving Ali preference (in fadhila) over the two". [al-Sharaf al-Mu'abbad, Page 209]

20. Shaykh Nabhani quotes a hadith from Musnad al-Bazzar from Usayd bin Safwan in which the demise of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr may Allah ble pleased with him and Ali's words in his manaqib are narrated. Sayyiduna Ali directly speaking to the former on his deathbed after his demise calls him

"most excellent of the Sahabah in his Manaqib",

"greatest of them in his rank",

"most noble of them in his station", and

"most honoured among them in the Messenger's court"!!

[al-Sharaf al-Mu'abbad, Page 193]

21. It is written in renowned Islamic Fiqh books, Fatawa Khulasa and Khazanat al-Musannifin, that:

"Anyone, who claims that Hadrat Mawla Ali (Karam Allahu wajh al-Karim) is superior to all companions, is a heretic, and a wrongdoer."

a. Fatawa Khulasa, in 'Kitab al-Salat' (chapter of Salah) Section: 15

b. Khazanat al-Musannifeen, in the chapter of 'Kitab al-Salat' (Book of Salah) in the section 'To follow a Rafidhi in Salat, is it right or wrong'?

22. It is stated in Fateh al-Qadeer, Sharah "Hidaya" and Hashiyyah on "Tabi'een al-Salamah" that:

"Anyone, who prefers Mawla Ali above the other three rightly guided Caliphs, is a misled."

a. Fateh al-Qadeer, Sharah (a commentary) on the most renowned and reliable Fiqh book "Hidaya", Printed in Egypt, Vol 1, Page 248

b. Hashiyyah (a commentary) on the Fiqh book "Tabi'een al-Salamah", by Allama Ahmad as-Salabi, Printed in Egypt, Vol 1, Page 135

23. It is also written in the following Fiqh books "Bada'eh", "Bazaziyyah", "Asabah", "Fan al-Sa'ani", "al-Haf al-Abrar wal-Basair", "Fatawa Qurwiyyah" and "Waqiat al-Muftiyyin", and all these books have quoted references from another most authentic and renowned Fiqh book "Fatawa Khulasa", that:

"Anyone, who prefer Hadrat Mawla Ali (Karam Allahu wajh al-Karim) over them (Shaykhain) is a misled and heretic."

a. Bada'eh, Vol 3, Page 264

b. Bazaziyyah, Vol 3, Page 319

c. Asabah - Printed in Egypt, Page 187

d. Fatawa Qurwiyyah - Printed in Egypt, Vol 1, Page 25

e. Waqiat al-Muftiyyin - Printed in Egypt, Page 13

24. It is mentioned in another authentic and most renowned Fiqh book "Majma al-Anhar", Sharah (a commentary) on the book "Multaqi al-Abhar", that:

"Tafdhili, those who prefer Hadrat Mawla Ali Radi Allahu Anhu above the other three Caliphs are misled. [Majma' al Anhar - Printed in Istanbul, Vol 1, Page 105]

25. The leader of the Sayyids of Bilgraam, Sayyiduna Meer Abdul Wahid Hussayni Zaidi Wasti Bilgraami has written in his 'Sabaa Sanabil Sharif':

"After Hadrat Abu Bakr comes the excellence of Hadrat Umar, then Hadrat Uthmaan and then Hadrat Ali. He who does not accept Hadrat Ali as the Khalifa is from the Kharijees and he who regards him (Hadrat Ali) to be more excellent than Hadrat Abu Bakr and Umar is from the Raafdhis." [Sabaa Sanabil, Page 10]

Conclusion:

There is consensus that after the Ambiya, Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique is the most excellent of mankind, then Umar, Uthmaan and Ali after him. The excellence of Hadrat Uthmaan and Ali is less than the Shaykhain (Hadrat Abu Bakr and Hadrat Umar) but there is not defect in this rather their excellence and the excellence of the all the Sahaabah is beyond the understanding and comprehension of human minds. The Sahaabah, Tabaa'een, Taba-Tabaa'een and all the Ulema of the Ummah have reached consensus on this belief.

The Tafdhilis sect think that it is the demand of love for Hadrat Ali to give him excellence over the Shaykhain but they fail to realise that the result of his love should be confirming him, not opposing him. When Hadrat Ali regarded the Shaykhain and Hadrat Uthmaan to be more excellent than him, he followed and was obedient to them and accepted their commands during their Khilaafat then it is a clause of having love for him (Hadrat Ali) to conform to his path, not opposing it.

True Love for Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu will only and only be valid and beneficial when his teachings, Aqida and Iman is also followed. The Ahl al-Bayt should themselves talk more often about the tafhdil of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as this is mass-narrated from Sayyiduna Ali himslef, and a sunnah of his.
What a frightening punishment for those who backbite, that they will scratch and injure their faces and their chests with their own hands because they had hurt the hearts of people by backbiting.
Sayyid Ahmad Saeed Kazmi: Issue of Takfeer [rul...

A prominent scholar of the Ahl as Sunnah, Mawlana Sayyid Ahmed Saeed Kazmi (Anwar ul-Uloom, Multan) writes:

[indent]“On the issue of Takfeer [ruling someone as an apostate], our stance has always been that, whosoever utters words of Kufr we shall not refrain from pronouncing Takfeer against them; whether they be Deobandi or Barelwi, follower of the League or the Congress, Nechari [naturalists] or Nadwi. On this issue we shall not differentiate whether someone is a friend or a foe.

This certainly does mean that if one follower of the League utters a word of Kufr, all the followers of the League are Kafir; or if one Nadwi committed Kufr that all Nadwis are apostates. We do not declare all the residents of Deoband as Kafirs due to passages of Kufr written by some Deobandis.

We and our elders have repeatedly said that we do not decree any resident of Deoband or Lucknow as a kafir just because they live there. According to us, only that person is a kafir who commits insults against Allah, His Prophets and the chosen people of Allah and despite repeated warnings, does not repent. We also consider those people to be kafir who are aware of such Kufr and are aware of the clear meanings of these insults, and despite this they consider the insults to be the truth, the insulter to be a believer and their leader.

And that is it.

Apart from this, we do not declare anyone who claims to be a Muslim as an apostate. The number of people we have ruled as apostates are very few in number and restricted [to a specific issue]. Apart from these specific individuals, no Muslim from Deoband or Bareilly is termed an apostate. Neither are [Muslim] followers of the League or or the Congress. We consider all Muslims to be exactly that – Muslims.”

Imam Ahmed RiDa: The angel Ruh

Sayyiduna Tha’alb rađiyAllāhu ánhu has reported a Ḥadīth from Sayyidunā Ábdullah ibn Masūd rađiyAllāhu ánhu, who mentions that the beloved Ḥabīb śallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam has stated:

[indent]“There is an Angel named Rūh who is of greater magnitude than the Heavens and the Earth, as well as the mountains and the other Angels. Its station is the Fourth Sky. Daily, he recites twelve thousand Tasbīhs[1]. From each Tasbīh, one Angel is created. On the Day of Judgment, this Angel will form one complete row himself, while the rest of the Angels will form another row.”

[/indent]Referring to this Ḥadīth, several Scholars have made interesting comments. Imām al-Baghawī álayhir rahmah in his book al-Muállim quotes that the verse, “Rūh and the other Angels will stand in rows on the Day of Judgment”, refers to the above Ḥadīth. Imam Badr ud-Dīn al-Ayni álayhir rahmah in his book Úmdat ul-Qārī Sharh Ṣaḥīḥ ul Bukhārī says that the verse, “And they shall question you regarding Rūh” refers to this Ḥadīth.

In the book Mawāhib, Imām Ibn Ḥajar Qastalānī álayhir rahmah states: “There is a celestial world found in the Heaven (made from water and smoke), wherein are Angels created from water and air. The leader of these Angels is Raád, who is responsible for the clouds and rain.”

Allamah Sayyid Ahmed Kazmi: Four things that ar...

وما ارسلنك الا رحمة للعلمین

There are four things that are necessary in order to perform mercy upon something:

1. Firstly, the one being merciful must be alive and not dead because a dead person cannot be merciful, rather, he himself is in need of mercy. Hence, Allah forbid, if RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam is not alive, then he cannot be a mercy for the worlds. When the verse proves that he is a mercy for the worlds, then it is also proven that he is alive.

2. Secondly, one cannot be a mercy for someone just by being alive. He must also have knowledge of the one he is merciful upon. This is because one who is unaware cannot have mercy on someone. This can be understood using an example:

Zayd is oppressed and wishes that someone has mercy on him and saves him from his oppressor. He has this wish in his heart and goes to Amr and asks him for mercy. Amr hears his request but knows nothing of his state. He does not know the difficulty that Zayd is in and what type of mercy he needs. Hence, he asks Zayd what the difficulty is and what type of mercy he needs. If Zayd does not tell Amr and continues to say, ‘Do not ask my state, just have mercy on me’; then can Amr have mercy on him? No, not at all. Until Zayd tells him the state he is in and Amr knows the full details of this, he certainly cannot have mercy upon him.

The verse says that RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam is a mercy for the worlds. So, until RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam does not know the state of all things in this universe and the whole creation and everything apart from Allah ta’ala; he cannot be a mercy for the worlds. Until RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam is proven to be a mercy for the worlds, it is also proven that he has knowledge of the states of everything in the worlds.

3. Thirdly, it is not enough for one to only have knowledge to have mercy upon someone until one also possesses the power and authority to exercise this mercy and blessing. For example, a person is staying with you and day and night, he performs the worship of Allah ta’ala. He is always busy in obeying Allah ta’ala and due to this, he has become so weak that even getting about and walking has become difficult for him. If such a person is accused of robbery and murder and is placed under a guillotine and at that time he makes a plea of mercy from you and says, ‘You know that I am innocent so why do you not have mercy upon me?’ We can only give the reply that indeed we are well aware of your innocence but what use is knowledge alone? We do not have the power and authority to save you from the guillotine. Until we have the power and authority to convey our mercy to you, we can do nothing. This shows that power and authority are also necessary for one to have mercy. When RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam is an unconditional mercy for the entire creation and the whole universe, then he possesses the power and authority to communicate his mercy to every particle of the universe.

4. Fourthly, it is not sufficient to only possess power and authority. To have mercy upon someone, one must also be close to the person upon whom mercy is being bestowed. This can be understood through an example:

You are stood three furlongs away and a bloodthirsty enemy has attacked your friend and he shouts for your mercy. You run to his aid with utmost sincerity so that you may show him mercy but by the time you reach him, the enemy has killed him.

Let us examine this. You are alive, you can see your friend and also have knowledge of his state and also possess the power and authority to have mercy. You can bestow mercy using this authority but simply because you are far from your friend and he is far from you; despite being alive and having the power and authority, you cannot have mercy on him. We learn that for one to have mercy on someone, he must also be close to him.

When RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam is proven to be a mercy for the universe and the entire creation, then it is also proven that RasulAllah sallAllahu ‘alaihi wasallam is close to everything in the universe and to the whole of creation through his nuraniya [light] and ruhaniya [spirituality].

Did the Wahabi Sect exist at the time of the Kh...

Question: Did the Wahabi Sect exist at the time of the Khulafaa-e-Rashideen?

Answer: It is the very sect about whom Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibne Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) requested the permission from Ameeril Mu'mineen, Sayyiduna Ali Al Murtudah (Karramallahuwajhahu) to confront. After obtaining permission from Ameeril Mu'mineen, Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibne Abbas (radi Allahu anhu)went to these people and asked them: "What was it about the Ameeril Mu'mineen that you so greatly disagree with?" They replied: "Why did the Ameer appoint Sayyiduna Abu Moosa Ashari (radi Allahu anhu) as a Hakm (Judge) in the Event of Siffeen? This is Shirk (Polytheism) because Allah states in the Quran: 'That judgement is from none but Allah'". Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibne Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) replied: "Is it not in the very Quran that states, 'If there arises a dispute between husband and wife then get one Hakam (Judge or Arbitrator) from both sides, and if the couple require a reconciliation then Almighty Allah will put them together".

(This is absolutely the same tactics used by todays Wahabis. They close their eyes when it comes to the belief of I'lm-ul-Ghaib - Knowledge of the Unseen - possessed by Sayyiduna Rasoolullah -sallalahu alaihi wasallam. It is an Islamic belief that he did possess this Science of Knowledge as an Ataee - Gift of Allah and not Zaati (Personal). But the corrupt Wahabi totally refutes this. According to them such belief is Shirk).

Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibne Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) then asked them as to what type of belief do they hold that they claim Imaan with all the Ayahs of Nafi (Negation), and Kufr with the Ayafs of Ithbaat (Affirmation). On hearing this scholastic statement of Sayyiduna Ibne Abbas (radi Allahu anhu), half of that group (5, 000) made Taubah (Repented) and joined Ameeril Mu'mineen. The remainder of the group (5, 000) remained stubborn. After this dialogue the Noble Ameeril Mu'mineen issued the order that the remainder be killed.

Sayyiduna Imaam Hasan, Imaam Husein and many other eminent scholars hesitated because this group spent the entire night in Tahajjud and spent the day in the recitation of the Holy Quraan. They said: "How could we raise our swords on such people". On the contrary, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) had already in the past informed Sayyiduna Ali (Karramallahu wajhahu) about this Sect that will revolt against Islam and they will be very staunch in their external duties, i.e. of Salaah, Fasting, etc. They will leave the Deen as an arrow leaves the bow for its target, never to return again, and they will recite the Holy Quraan but it will not go below their throats.

Eventually the Muslim army was compelled to execute the command of the Ameeril Mu'mineen. Hence, the battle commenced. In the course of the Jihad, the Ameer was informed that the enemy had reached the river in retreat. On hearing this, Sayyiduna Imaam Ali Al-Murtudah (Karramallahu wajhahu) said:"By Allah! Not even 10 if them will cross the river. All will be killed on this side". So it did happen. None of the 5 000 escaped and all of them were killed. Since the army of the Ameer was impressed by the piety of the enemy he had to clear their minds and heart. To put this into effect, the Ameer issued an order to his army: "Search the bodies of the enemy. If you find Zul Thadiyya amongst them, then you have verily killed the most evil of men on earth, and if you do not find him amongst them (killed) then you have killed the best of men on earth."The search began and all the corpses were inspected. Below a pile of the executed was lying the body of this cursed person. His one hand was shaped like the breast of a woman. When Ameeril Mu'mineen saw him, he loudly shouted the Takbeer (Allahu-Akbar) and praised the Almighty Allah. Likewise, the entire muslim army was convinced and satisfied by the Karamat (I'lm-e-Ghaib) of the Ameer, praised Allah and thanked Him for cleansing this filth from the earth.

Then the illustrious Ameer again addressed the army and said: "Do you think that this cursed Sect is totally exterminated? Absolutely not! Some of them are still in the womb of thier mothers and others are in the sperm of thier fathers. When one of these groups will be exterminated the others will rise with the Fitna and this will continue until the last group will emerge with the cursed Dajjal!"

This is the very sect that will emerge in the future in different names and famous disguises. Now, in this last period of time the very same cult emerged as "Reformers of Deen" and called themselves Wahabis. All the signs about this group that were foretold in the Sahih Ahadith Shareef are found exactly in the present Wahabi followers. A few prophecies were mentioned here.

1. If you compare your Salaah with their Salaah you will regard yours as insignificant and insufficient. Likewise, your fasting in comparison to theirs ( Wahabis) and your good deeds to that of theirs.

2. They will recite the Holy Quraan but it will not go below their throats.

3. Their words and speech will be very sweet and appealing and they will quote in every step.

4. Their condition will be such that they will leave the (boundries of) Deen as an arrow leaves the bow for its target.

5. One of their signs is that most of them will shave the hair of their heads.

6. Their pants will be raised high above the ankles.

N.B.: It is said that the father of Wahabism, Ibne Abdul Wahab Najdi, used to excercise the shaving off the hair so strongly that if any women converts to his corrupt cult (Wahabism), he ordered the female to shave off her hair. This was done because he said: "This is the hair of the period of Kufr therefore it must be shaven off". This shaving off of the female hair carried on for some time until one lady confronted him and said: "Why don't you shave off the beards of your recruits when they enter you Deen. That is also the hair of the period of Kufr?"It was from then that he stopped this shameful and disgusting practise.

Look at the Wahabis of todays. Majority of them shave off their hair and lift their pants high above their ankles. How true are the prophecies of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) of over 1 400 years ago. They fit on the behavior of the present day Wahabis perfectly.

A'la Hadrat (may Allah santify his soul) went on further to say:

When the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) was distributing booty after the Battle of Hunain, one person (that day Wahabi), objected to the manner of the Holy Prophet's (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) distribution and said: "I do not find justice in this distribution because some persons are getting more than the other". On hearing this remark, Sayyiduna Omar Al-Farouq (radi Allahu anhu)became furious and said: "Ya Rasoolullah! Grant me permission to behead this Munafiq (hypocrite)". He replied: "Leave him because such and such type of people will be from his offsprings". Then the Holy Prophet of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) further said: "Unfortunately, if I do not excercise justice with you then who will be just to you? May Allah have mercy on my brother (Nabi) Moosa (alaihis salaam) who was oppressed more than me!"

The pious Ulema state that the distribution of the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaii wasallam) on the single day was more than the lifelong charity of generous kings. The jungle was full of booty and the Sahabas came in huge numbers and the Nabi of Allah distributed the booty to them moving backwards (as the goods got lesser until all was given out).

While this virtuous distribution was carrying on a Bedoin came up to the Noble Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) and kindly pulled away his Rida (Mantle) from his blessed shoulders. The force of that snatching left marks on the shoulders and the back of the Beloved Nabi (sallalahu alaihi wasallam). He did not get annoyed by this act, but all he humbly said: "Oh People! Do not hasten, by Allah you would never find me a miser at any given time". Certainly by the Lord of Power Who has sent his beloved Rasool (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) with the truth and ultimate guidance, the most esteemed Khalifa of the Almighty Allah is Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam). Whatever bounties and mercies are recieved in this universe is indeed due to his blessings. Infact, his blessings in this universe is but an atom of his Divine Rahmah.

Arif-e-Billah, Imaam Sharfudeen Busiri (may Allah sanctify his soul) states in his famous Qasidah Burdah Shareef: "Truly the mercies of this Duniya and Akhirah is but a trace of the blessings of the Beloved Nabi (sallalahu alayhi wasallam) and all the Knowledge of the Unseen (I'lmul-Ghaib ) is but a glimpse of the sacred knowledge of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam)".

One day the eminent Ashaab of the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam)were assembled around him and a person came by and stood at the edge of the Majlis Shareef. Immediately, he proceeded from there into Musjid-e-Nabawi Shareef. The Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) addressed the Sahaba and said: "Who amongst you will go and kill him?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr As Siddique (radi Allahu anhu) got up and went towards this person who was engrossed in Salaah. He could not kill a person who was engrossed in Salaah, and returned to the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) and explained the situation.

The Beloved Nabi of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) stated again: "Who is it that will kill him?" Sayyiduna Omar Al Farouq (radi Allahu anhu) got up and went towards that person and found him in the same situation.

For the third time the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) stated: "Who is it that will kill him?" Sayyiduna Ali Al Murtudah (radi Allahu anhu) got up and said: "I will kill him". The Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Yes, you would if you find him but he will not be there".

When Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu) went to the Musjid Shareef the man had already left. Then the Nabi of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) said: "If you had killed him then a very great Fitna (dissention) would have been removed from this Ummah". He was the father of Wahabism whose offsprings are found today. They are soiling this earth and causing Fitna in this Ummah. That rude person stood on the edge of a Majlis Shareef of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and gave one look at everyone present there. His corrupt heart told him that there is no one in this Majlis better than himself. He was very proud and boasted of his Salaah and piety. He did not realize that Salaah or any virtue, is but a mercy of the Glorious Prophet of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam).

One can never be a devout servant of Allah until one sincerely pledges his allegiance to the beloved of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wasallam). In the Holy Quraan Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala places the respect and honour of His Beloved Nabi before His worship. Therefore, Allah states: "So that you bring faith on Allah and his Rasool and respect and honour his Rasool and glorify Allah day and night, (meaning, perform Salaah)". The first and formost factor of Imaan is respect for the Rasool. Without respect for the Rasool, Salaah or any from of Ibadaah is useless. There are may Abdullahs (Servants of Allah) in this world but the true and sincere Abdullah is he who is Abde-Mustafa (servant of the choosen Prophet - sallalahu alaihi wasallam). If it is not so then the servant is Abde-Shaytaan - servant of the cursed Devil. Allah forbid this!

Qiyam

Imām Aĥmad Razā states:

On my first trip to Haramayn Sharīfayn, a staunch Wahābī came up to me near the blessed Ka’abah and said, “You place great emphasis on celebrating the Mawlid al-Nabī and standing and reciting salâms. You also claim that this is a common practice in Hijāz Sharīf. Here in Makkah lives the great ‘Aalim Shaykh al-‘Úlamā Sayyid Aĥmad Zaynī Daĥlān [d. 1299/1881] who forbids Qiyâm [standing] and sending salâm.” I told him that the great Shaykh lives a few steps away from here and we should go to him and clarify this point. He blankly refused to go to the Shaykh even though I insisted. If this question was posed to me outside Makkah al-Mukarramah or for that matter, on the homeward-bound ship, then it would have been difficult to return to Makkah for verification. Look at the audacity of this hypocrite! He stands at the doorstep of the great Shaykh and falsely accuses him. What liars! When I invited this fraudster to go to the great Shaykh for clarification, he ignored my request and shamelessly walked away. I certainly knew the fact that Shaykh al-‘Úlamā not only stands in Qiyâm for salâm, but he has also issued many Fatāwahs on its legality and greatly recommended it as a virtuous act. Beside his Fatâwah, he has emphatically dealt with this subject with great details in his famous kitāb, ad-Durr al-Sunniyah fī Radd al-Wahābiya. He has even discussed this subject in his other kitāb, Sīrah Nabuwwah. He states:

It has become a constant habit that when people hear the dhikr of Wilādat al-Rasūl śallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam, they stand up in respect of the Glorious Prophet of Allah śallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam. The practice of Qiyâm is good and recommendable because it is honour and respect to the Beloved Nabī śallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam. And indeed, this is a practice of the great ‘Úlamā and we follow them.

An Interesting Example Of Deobandis’ Hypocrisy

An Interesting Example Of Deobandis’ Hypocrisy

If you want to see a living example of the above, go to Delhi. A very famous person by the name of Jamil Ilyasi resides here who is a staunch Deobandi Tableeghi. The addition of the term Ilyasi is sufficient to portray his complete background. On the one hand, he is such an active preacher of Deobandism and Tableeghi Jamaat in Delhi that it is highly unlikely that there is any mosque in Delhi of which he is member of, which he has not turned into a camp of the Tableeghi Jamaat. But now learn the other side of picture and lament - that there is not a single Mausoleum of the twenty Khwajas of Delhi at which he is not present on the occasion of Urs. When the late Rajiv Gandhi became the Prime Minister for the first time, Jamil Ilyasi was the one who placed the floral wreath on the grave of Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti on his behalf. Another more interesting fact is that when the late Mrs. Indira Gandhi was removed from her post and was passing her life in the abyss of defeat, Jamil Ilyasi approached her - and like a soothsayer who could see the future, advised her that there is only one person on earth who could restore her rule – and that person is Hudur Ghawth Ul Adham Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani whose sacred mausoleum is in Baghdad. Indira Gandhi did not want anything else. She immediately arranged for his trip and Jamil Ilyasi set off for Baghdad. He remained in seclusion at the holy shrine for fifteen days – and upon returning he informed her that he had received the good news from the shrine that her (Indira Gandhi’s) rule would be restored within 9 months.

Now please be fair – can someone wage a war more intense against his or her own faith, except the followers of the Deobandi faith? They, according to their own terminology, have “worshipped” graves and accepted those as “faithful” who according to them have spread polytheism. Now you yourself decide – how difficult it is to avoid people who have so many faces. They portray a different face in Deoband and Saharanpur – and a different one in Baghdad and Ajmer.
